I talk about all that I do but never share the first love that allows me to do all these other fun things. I love to clean, really I do. When I found myself unemployed due to the company closing I was stunned and a little freaked out. What in the world could I do that did not take me away from my family and would allow my husband to continue working retail hours with a job he enjoyed and provided security at Lowe’s. I always cooked or large groups, personal chef and just plain good food. I thought I could cook and clean for families. A real Home Concierge the first of its kind. Come home to a clean house and a good meal that you could heat and eat. Well after a little trial and error I realized that I could do the cleaning but cooking would have to be left to someone else.
In late 2008 we officially came up with a name (my husband loves music and he gets full credit for our name as he sang Band on the Run?) Maids on the Run since we run errands and we are a maid service.
I started by giving Jacksonville homes free bathroom cleanings since we had no budget to market. Heck, I lost my job, my car, our house so no money to spare. Now I was not put out on the street just had to downsize a lot to keep us all happy and safe. I cleaned more than 100 toilets for free here in Jacksonville before we became any type of cleaning service let alone a company.
I got some jobs and had family help and it was fun, crazy, exciting…just like a new baby. This was a part of me, my name, my family and all I wanted was to help other families spend more quality time together and worry less about the house work. Tag line “We take care of your home so you can take care of your family!” It took 2 years to create a logo I liked that wasn’t just about cleaning house and still gave maids an image of respect. WE are personal assistants to families not just a maid with a mop. We love our families, love to help others and many of us come from professional backgrounds just wanting to make a change. We created a 65 point check list to be sure all areas are cleaned, follow up after every service no matter how long we have cared for your home and work hard to never disappoint but if we do our policy is to send another crew person out right away to fix it. In 2009 I got breast cancer just as I started all of this and was blessed to have the opportunity to help families for free. We started Cleaning with a Meaning and created a network to help families nationally. WE do not take any funds so all cleanings are donated by Maids on the Run locally as well as donated by cleaning companies in other areas. We donate the cleanings to families that have children diagnosed with a serious illness or injury. Car accidents to cancer if it is life threatening and we get doctor referral we try to help. God gave us this day to make a difference so we try our best to do so.
Maids on the Run has grown to be a professional house cleaning company that’s primary mission is to provide families with a much needed helping hand around the house. We are available via phone, text, email to be sure that any concern a client may have can be resolved quickly. Customer service is key and in a business where house keepers are a dime a dozen we hope that our pricing and structure as well as the desire to please will offer singles, families and empty nesters a level of comfort as they let us in their home.
After 4.5 years cleaning toilets we are so excited to be able to offer our experience of starting a successful cleaning company to men and women wanting to own their own business but maintain family friendly hours.
